Countdown to Signing Day: Clemson, South Carolina in good shape
by Tiffany Grady-Hudgins

With National College Signing Day just around the corner, (Wednesday, February 6) some of the nation’s top players are still undecided on their college choice. Both Clemson and South Carolina have stout classes that could rise if a couple decisions go their way.

Steve Spurrier’s 2013 class is extremely solid, and many of South Carolina’s recruits have a ton of potential.

The Gamecocks currently have 20 commitments, including 16 3-star players and four 4-star players.

Defensively, South Carolina landed huge commitments from 4-star defensive tackle Kelsey Griffin and 4-star outside linebacker Larenz Bryant. The Gamecocks may have also found their running back of the future in David Williams (No. 8 all-purpose back, according to the 247Sports Composite).

Dabo Swinney’s 2013 Tigers were the talk of the football world when they landed a committment from No. 1 overall recruit Robert Nkemkiche. Since he decommitted, Clemson took a hit in the ranking but has since stabalized. Currently, the Tigers have 19 committments, nine of which are 4-star recruits, and are in great shape to land one of the nation’s top defensive linemen in Montravius Adams. Getting Tyrone Crowder and Mackensie Alexander would be the icing on the cake if Adams comes to Clemson. The Tigers have finished hot the past few years, and 2013 will be no exception.

The announcements of four Clemson targets and one for USC on National Signing Day will be televised via ESPNU. Clemson fans can watch as Montravius Adams, Mackensie Alexander, Carl Lawson and Tyrone Crowder reveal their choice. USC fans will be tuned in as Keith Bryant announces his decision on NSD as well.

Here’s the schedule of Signing Day announcements on ESPNU as released by ESPN.

Union County is sponsoring the Meansville Riley Water Company's application for a $350,000 grant through the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority. The grant would enable the company to install approximately 31,000 linear feet of new water main on eight different roadways and improve water quality. If requested to do so, should the county sponsor more such grant applications by other local water companies?
