Crime Report

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrest:

— Hannah Lee Cutshaw, 24, of 1106 South Jonesville Highway, Jonesville, was charged with breach of peace around 6:55 p.m. on Feb. 11. According to the incident report, officers responded to assist the Jonesville Police Department in a traffic stop near the intersection of Jonesville Highway and Jonesville-Lockhart Highway. Officers followed one of the subjects involved in the stop who ran behind a residence toward New Hope Church Road. During that time, Cutshaw stood outside of her residence acting in a disorderly manner, asking about the vehicle stopped and stating that it was her vehicle. Officers asked her to wait inside until they finished their investigation and could explain everything to her, but she refused and continued to use profane and vulgar language toward the officers. After being advised she was under arrest for breach of peace, Cutshaw jerked away from the officer and had to be physically taken to the ground as she resisted arrest. Once on the ground, she complied with officers and was transported to Union County Jail.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:

— The owner of a residence on Linersville Road, Buffalo, reported on Feb. 11 that metal siding, underpinning and a metal roof had been taken from the vacant building. The owner stated that he had not been to the residence in the last three months, and he estimated the missing metal at a value of $1,000.

— A resident of Hilltop View, Union, reported on Feb. 11 that a tire on her vehicle had been cut between Feb. 10 and Feb. 11. Photos of the damaged tire were taken for evidence, and the damage is estimated at $150.

The Union Public Safety Department reported the following incident:

— The owner of a storage building at 706 South Duncan Bypass reported on Feb. 11 that a white, cast iron tub with claw feet was missing from the building. The estimated value of the tub is $600. The owner of the tub called a shop that had a similar tub for sale, and the seller said the tub for sale had been in the shop for a month but someone came in on Feb. 9 trying to sell a claw foot tub. The case was turned over to investigations.

Union County is sponsoring the Meansville Riley Water Company's application for a $350,000 grant through the South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority. The grant would enable the company to install approximately 31,000 linear feet of new water main on eight different roadways and improve water quality. If requested to do so, should the county sponsor more such grant applications by other local water companies?
