UNION — Live music, lunch, door prizes and information on health, safety, banking and other issues will all be part of the WBCU 15th Annual Senior Citizen’s Expo at Tabernacle Baptist Church today.
The event, which is sponsored by WBCU to honor senior citizens, will be held in the church’s Family Life Center today from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Chris Woodson, WBCU general manager, said Wednesday that the event will feature entertainment for the seniors in attendance including live musical performances by Heath Walker, Voices of Truth, Terry Humphries, Jonathan Moss, and Barbara McKinney and Friends. Woodson said lunch will be provided by Bojangles and door prizes will be given out. He said the event is open to the public and free.
Woodson said that, including WBCU, the expo has a total of 21 sponsors, all of whom will have tables in the social hall. He said sponsors will have free giveaways for the seniors in attendance as well as information on the services they provide and on issues of interest to senior citizens.
The sponsors of the expo include Arthur State Bank which Woodson said will provide information on checking and other banking services it offers seniors; Wallace Thomson Hospital which will provide information on health care; and the Union County Sheriff’s Office which will provide information on scams that target senior citizens and other law enforcement issues.
Also helping sponsor the expo are Hospice Care of South Carolina, Woodmen of the World, Gentiva, Oakmont of Union, Holcombe Funeral Home, Blue Ridge Hospice, Union County Clerk of Court Freddie Gault, Allstate Insurance, Austin Rehab and Medi Home Hospice.
