UNION — Linda Jeter “Ginnie” Rice, 50, 1207 W. Main St., died Dec. 14, 2012 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A native of Union, she was the wife of Frank James Rice of the home and the daughter of the late Benjamin “Butte” Smith and Betty Norman Jeter. She was an active member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, a 1980 graduate of Union High School, and an employee of Bojangles.’ She was a member of the Sensational Rice Singers.

Survivors in addition to her husband include one son, Johnny Jerome Jeter of the home; one stepson, Marvin D. Gilliam of Union; two daughters, Kerry Jeter and Candy Jeter, both of Union; three brothers, Doug Hampton and Martin Smith, both of Union, and Willie Lee Gaffney of Chicago; five sisters, Mary Hardy, Barbara (Paul) Dawkins, Lorraine (Eddie) Glenn, Betty Jeter, and Barbara Smith, all of Union; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the hone.
