UNION — Union County wide receiver Kalay Jones reeled in seven passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns on Friday night.

“Kalay’s played good all three games,” said Coach Steve Taneyhill. “I think he had the best game of anybody on Friday just because of his production. He played about every snap on offense and had a big game. His numbers were pretty impressive.”

Jones is an impact player and a key element of the Union County offense.

On Friday night, his first touchdown reception cushioned the Jackets’ lead at 14-0 before Greer used a 27-point second quarter to shift the momentum of the game. Jones went on to score again in the third with a 30-yard reception, bringing the Jackets back to within single digits.

U-Mass and Gardener Webb have each put offers on the table to obtain Jones’ services in 2013. However, the senior skill player has piqued the interest of several Division I universities that will likely come calling after the 2012 campaign.

For now, though, Jones will continue to shine in black and gold.

Your Union Daily Times Jacket of the Week is Kalay Jones.
