Union County defeats Mid Carolina in volleyball

UNION — The Union County JV Volleyball team defeated Mid Carolina on Thursday, 25-13 and 25-22.

Cara Phillips led the way for the Jackets, scoring 11 points serving with two aces and two kills. Sydney Gregory also scored 11 points serving with two aces.

Dynia Davis had two aces and three kills while Micaela Solis had three assists and Caitlin Grant had two. Rakendra Jeter contributed a dig and Macy Scarborough had a kill.

Coach Sherry Jackson said that Mary Scarborough had some good passes to the setter and that Paige Foster also played well.

“I was very pleased with their effort and support of each other,” said Jackson. “When not in the game, the girls are encouraging their teammates who are on the court.”

The Jackets will travel to Woodruff next Thursday for game two of the 2012 season.
