Hello again,
After a long absence I’m back. I pray to do this writing more often.
I had to be in the local hospital for 17 days. I had mercer all over my body. I am mercer free now, thank God. Everyone needs to be checked for mercer. It can effect you in so many ways.
I received excellent care at Wallace Thomson Hospital. I was the first one on a new bed. The bed is excellent. They just have to learn how to use the mattress to meet the patient’s needs. All the staff went above duty to care for me.
I have home nurse care and am getting therapy at home. My doctor is helping me get a motorized wheelchair. Then I can enjoy my yard. Pray I’m approved.
On June 3, I had over 50 people in my back yard. It would have been Bill’s 82nd birthday. He has been gone seven years and we celebrated his memory. Everyone brought food. I cooked chicken and dumplings (with help from Debbie and Eileen, granddaughters) one of several dishes that I’m expected to fix for every get together.
A lot of kin didn’t get a call from me because a lot of people have went to their cell phones and they are not even in the phone book anymore. I couldn’t find a number for you. If you want to be invited to family gatherings call me with your cell phone number.
June 3 is also sister-in-law Willie Kirby’s birthday, she is 77. We sure surprised her. She received over $100 plus other gifts.
Everyone said they really enjoyed themselves.
My 86-year-old sister Essie Bolding and three of her family came from Kings Mountain. That was a nice thing for me. Her husband of 60-plus years passed away in March. He had leukemia. He was bedridden for only three days before he passed away. Lots of people in Union County know them. His name was Larry Bolding. They were members of Covenant Baptist Church. If you could sing it, he could play it on the piano. He couldn’t read a note of music. He played for groups in his church, quartets, other groups and solos. He is greatly missed.
My granddaughter Eileen and her husband John (I can’t spell or pronounce his last name) took me to the Church of God Saturday for the singing part of the fundraiser for neighbor Margaret Birchfield. The Riverside Boys were in fine voice as always. The Roy Knight Singers — two men and two women — are excellent. They all could sing, but the women singers were the best I’ve heard in a long time. The sanctuary was full. I hope the offering was great.
Margaret is one fine lady. We’ve lived on the same street for 40-plus years. Three ladies on this street have breast cancer — Honey Birch, Margaret Birchfield (she was a Birch and married a Birchfield), and Elaine Gault. Her treatment is making her very sick. She is a fighter. She had been cancer free for over five years. Please remember these in your prayers.
Also, Joan and James Howell and their two sons. He has leukemia and is in remission right now. He has lots more wrong with him (more tests today).
Our prayer list at Fairforest Baptist Church is long. I don’t get to go to church now, but there are great things going on. Jeanette Inman mails me the bulletin every week. Kent Smith brings me the Sunday School books and Open Windows. They are faithful.
Good friend Pat Harman has her grandson with her for a week or so. She’s a happy Mimi. She visits some as we are phone pals.
Vacation Bible Schools are in most churches right now. As Granny Garland always said, “That’s a heap of children to pray for.”
