UNION – The Sims girls were defeated by Florence Chapel 35-11 at Sims on Thursday.

The visitors jumped out to a 26-7 halftime lead before the Tigers settled down defensively in the second half.

“We didn’t play very well on both ends in the first half, and unfortunately Florence Chapel had a good half shooting the ball,” said Coach Harris after the game. “We played much better all over the court in the second half, but we just couldn’t overcome that big lead. We did some things that we need to do more consistently in the second half, so I was impressed by our effort there.”

The Tigers were led in scoring by Shataesia Booker and Alexis Beatty with four points each. Aniya Byrd had two points and Brooke Smith made a free throw for one point.

Sims is now 1-6 for the season, and travels to Boiling Springs Middle School on Monday.
