Sheriff’s office searching for person who keyed car

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the person who keyed a Union woman’s car from one end to the other Monday night.

The victim told deputies sometime between 10 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday somebody scratched her 2002 Pontiac Bonneville while it was parked outside her home at 113 Mark St. The deputy taking the report noted both sides of the vehicle appeared to have been keyed from front to back. Damage to the car was estimated at $1,500.

The incident is listed as an act of malicious damage.

Vandalism

The Union Public Safety Department is investigating an act of vandalism at a house at 320 North Church St.

An officer was dispatched to the residence Saturday morning and met with the owner who said when she’d check on the building at 11 a.m. she found the front side door had been kicked in. She said she’d last checked on the house 2 p.m. Dec. 13. Damage to the door was estimated at $200.

The public safety department is also investigating an act of vandalism in which no damage was done. An officer was dispatched to 422 North Pinckney St. on the morning of Dec. 18. He met by the owner who told him that someone had a thrown a rock at the front door. There was no damage to either the door or the building.

Arrests

The following persons were arrested by the sheriff’s office:

Kenneth Michael Austin, 40, 250 Old English Road, Union, charged Tuesday with use of vehicle without owner’s consent.

Petties Tucker, 59, 315 Labaw Road, Carlisle, charged Wednesday with driving under suspension.
