The Union County Chamber of Commerce’s newest member — Computer Magic — held its grand opening/ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday morning. Guests enjoyed refreshments and conversation as business owner Gay Horne officially opened her doors.
Computer Magic will provide computer-related sales, service, repairs and upgrades.
Located at 301-C West Main St. in Union, the store will sell used items such as an all-in-one computer which was on display Thursday, complete with Windows XP, virus protection and a 150-game package. On Monday, there will be a used HP Pavilion dv8000 for sale in the store. Horne said she will always have chargers and adapters in stock as well.
“We also have replacement parts — keyboards and screens, which is a big one,” she said. “People might drop them, kick them or step on them.”
While sales will be a part of their business, Computer Magic employees predict that 98 percent of what they do will fall into the categories of repairs and service.
Computer Magic has a flat rate service charge of $60. For that price, a customer could have a virus cleaned from his or her computer, multiple scans, a virus protector installed that is good for one year and installation of a 150-game package which would allow the customer to play even off line.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Torance Inman said he is always glad to see new business, especially in Downtown Union.
“They (Computer Magic) felt it was important for them to join the chamber,” Inman said. “They quickly joined right after opening for business. We encourage all businesses — new and old — to be part of the chamber.”
Computer Magic is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon. For more information, call (864) 427-6700.
