COLUMBIA, SC — A memorial service for Rebecca Prince Howell, 69, was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church. The family received friends after the service at the church.

The burial was held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 in the Gallman Family Cemetery on Kelly Road in Union with visitation following the committal at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, adjacent to the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Riverland Hills Baptist Church, Building Fund, 201 Lake Murray Blvd. Irmo, SC 29063.

Mrs. Howell was born in Union, SC, Sept. 29, 1940 and passed away on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010. She was a daughter of the late Russell Prince and Ada Ruth Smith. She was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church. Mrs. Howell was a 1960 graduate of Lander College School of Nursing and enjoyed a 45-year nursing career, retiring as the employee health nurse at Lexington Medical Center.

Mrs. Howell is survived by her husband, Wayne Howell; son Brad Howell and his wife Jillian Tremblay Howell of Columbia, SC; daughter LeAnne Keeler and her husband Todd Keeler; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Rachel, David, Jonathon and Hannah Keeler of Gaithersburg, MD; brother Dr. Bruce Prince and his wife Joyce of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff of Gentiva Hospice. It was requested that all of Becky’s caregivers serve as an honor guard.
