Sis had worked for Milliken Textiles for most of her adult days. After 20 years at Pacolet, Jonesville and Monarch Mills, Mr. Roger Milliken called her into his office and said to her “Sis, you have been employed with this firm for 20 years and to show my appreciation of this, from this day on you shall be addressed as Mrs. Haney.”

Fact

Did you know that on Tuesday, July 17, U.S. and Russia linked spacecraft? The year was 1975, now you know.

Insight

Ralph Harris over in Gaffney tells this: Defer not until tomorrow to be wise, for tomorrow’s sun for you may never rise.

Make A Note

Mt. Joy Lodge #203 will meet July 19 at 7:30 p.m. The Lodge will be dark the month of August. Next regular meeting will be Sept. 20.

Poetry

J. D. Bright sent this:

Chicken in the bread pan,

Scratching out dough,

Granny, will your dog bite,

No child, no.

Meeting

Prudence Lodge #139 in Jonesville did not meet the month of July. Next regular meeting will be Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. Michael Tyler is W.M.

Remember In Prayer

We were saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Doris Young, the grandmother of Rev. Greene. He loved his grandmother very much. We will keep them in prayer.

Good Food

Have you tried the Jack Daniel Rib Eye Steak at the Forrest Street Grill? Get the loaded baked potato and the salad. Tell them I sent you. It is located on Forrest Street in Jonesville in front of Provident Bank.

Good Dream

I had this dream. That Union County had hired an agent to patrol the county on the watch out for children or pets left in hot cars or trucks during the hot summer days. This job would be seasonal and the funds would come from the county and private donations. Violators would be given a ticket to appear in court.

Birthday Celebrated

Wayne Eaves recently celebrated a birthday. He went to the Lighthouse Seafood and Rib Restaurant in Pacolet. Happy birthday Wayne Eaves.

Local Prayer Concerns

Sis Haney, Dot Gault, Mickey Crayne, Donald Farr, Tim Gregory, Carl Pollard, Ray Youngblood, Doris Moss, Fant Austin, Ruby Helms, and Lois Garner.

New Church Members

We welcome as new members in the choir at Fosters Chapel UMC, Mary and Joshua Ribelin, wife and son of the Rev. Glenn Ribelin. (Make a joyful noise.)

Birthday Celebrated

Mary Pacolette Genoble celebrated a birthday on July 28. She would not tell her age, but did say she was born back when the last train went from Union to Buffalo. (Tracks still there) Mary P, we wish you many happy returns.

Another Insight

Ralph Harris, over in Cherokee County tells this” Social tact is making your guests feel at home, even though you wish they were.

Make A Note

Fifth Sunday services will be held at Mt. Joy Baptist Church on Pea Ridge Highway on Sunday, July 29 at 6 p.m. Rev. Allan West is Pastor, come, and bring someone. This will be for Mt. Joy, Bethlehem, and Fosters Chapel.

Interesting Way To Fish

Our friend Mr. Harold Loyd “Guitar” Thompson is having some eye troubles, busted vessel and other ailments. He also says to get away from it all is to go fishing in a river without any bait. That way, you can stay as long as you wish without being bothered.

Good Job

I.G. Vanderford, Bobbie Jean Lawson and the rest of the crew over at Ellen Sagar checking on the air conditioner and other things that keep the patients comfortable. A good job those folks do. This was on July 2.

The Subject Was Waste

When Sis asked our youngest son, Do Rize why he quit his job at the landfill recycling center, he told her: “A waste is a terrible thing to mind.”

Guessing Correctly

The first guess to our picture in the last weeks was Marion Briggs in the Cross Keys area. We had fun with that one. Others getting it correct were Roger Bailey, Mark Kitchens, Sandra Glenn, and Judy Cathcart, Debbie Queen, Ed McClurkin, Jesse Goode, Larry Burgess, Emma Lee Fincher, Sammy Hart, Richard Baldwin, Kathy Robinson, Susan Fowler, and Mildred Tipton, We thank you.

Wisdom

Hit the ball over the fence and you can take your time around the bases.
