One person was injured in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 176 in Union on Friday afternoon.
Lisa K. Haney of Buffalo was driving a 2006 Ford south on South Duncan Bypass (Highway 176) near Scarboroughs Auto Sales at about 1:30 p.m. when Kenneth M. O’Shields of Union, driving a 2007 Dodge truck, exited the Nixon Center to go north, failed to yield the right of way and collided with the Haney vehicle.
Haney was transported to Wallace Thomson Hospital by Union County EMS after being extracted from the Ford car. Union Public Safety Department Chief Sam White was not aware whether or not O’Shields went to the hospital for any injuries.
The extent of Haney’s injuries following the accident was unknown.
The Ford was a complete loss and the Dodge driven by O’Shields suffered substantial damage. White did not know the exact amount yet Friday afternoon. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
O’Shields was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
Union Public Safety — police and fire and rescue — and Union County EMS responded to the scene. Carter’s Towing Service and Greer’s Wrecker Service were responsible for towing the vehicles from the scene.
