JONESVILLE — A Pacolet woman died this morning from multiple injuries she received when her motorcycle collided with a deer Wednesday night.

Union County Coroner William Holcombe said that Deborah Waters, 133 Ronica Road, died shortly after 1 a.m. in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 8:20 p.m. on U.S. 176 approximately three miles north of Jonesville. Waters was traveling south on a 2007 Honda motorcycle when the deer bounded into her path near the Chapman Road intersection. She struck the deer and was thrown from her motorcycle. Waters was not wearing a helmet.

Holcombe said he was told there was a second motorcyclist riding with Waters but he did not collide with the deer.
