UNION — A Union man was arrested after he allegedly attacked a woman who refused to a return a pack of cigarettes he’d bought her.

Robert Franklin Gregory, 33, 4186 Jonesville Highway, was charged by the Union County Sheriff’s Office with criminal domestic violence.

The incident report stated a deputy was dispatched Friday afternoon to a domestic dispute at 295 Vanderford Road in Union. When he arrived, the deputy spoke with Gregory who said he’d asked the victim to give him the pack of cigarettes he’d purchased for her. Gregory said this led to an argument during which the victim called 911.

The deputy, however, noticed that the victim was crying and became more upset as Gregory described the incident. When he questioned her, the victim said she’d been lying on a futon while Gregory was on the phone trying to get Lortab. She said he asked her to go find him Lortab, but she said no. The woman said Gregory then demanded she give him back the pack of cigarettes he’d bought her and when she refused he attacked her.

The victim them showed the deputy several red marks on her chest when she said Gregory had caused when he attacked her.

After photographing the marks on the victim’s chest, the deputy arrested Gregory and too him to jail.

Unlawful Neglect Towards A Child

LOCKHART — A Lockhart man and a woman were arrested after they and an infant child tested positive for drugs.

Amber Nicole Avant, 23, and Christoper Robert Williams, 39, both of 106 Canal Road, were each charged by the sheriff’s office with unlawful neglect toward a child.

The incident report stated a deputy received a call on Oct. 11 from a DSS worker about the drug screening of a 3-month-old infant. The screening, which was conducted on a strand of the infant’s hair on Oct. 4, tested positive for cocaine, cocaine metabolites and THC metabolites.

Hair strand screenings were also conducted on Avant and Williams, both of whom also tested positive for cocaine, cocaine metabolites and THC metabolites.

Avant and Williams were arrested Sunday.

The reported stated that there is also an ongoing DSS investigation into the incident.

Burglary

MONARCH — Two Union women are facing charges for allegedly breaking into a residence in the Monarch community and stealing approximately $80 in change.

Angelee Gail Shippy-Wilson, 38, 106 Moore St., Union, and April Michelle Varnadore, 38, 180 Riley Road, Union, were each charged by the sheriff’s office with burglary and petit larceny.

The incident report stated that a deputy was dispatched Oct. 6 to a resident at 288 Bobo St. in the Monarch area in response to a report of a burglary. The victim told the deputy that his neighbors had told him that Shippy-Wilson and another woman, later identified as Varnadore, had come to his residence earlier in the day while he was gone. He said the neighbors told him they saw Wilson try to go in through the front door and then saw her trying to break open the back door.

The victim said he was missing approximately $80 in change and two $1 silver certificates.

Shippy-Wilson was arrested Oct. 10 and Varndadore was arrested Monday.

Incidents

The following incidents are being investigated by the sheriff’s office.

Assault, Larceny

BUFFALO — Deputies are searching for two men who beat a man into unconsciousness and stole $2,000 from him.

The incident report stated that a deputy was dispatched Sunday night to a residence at 1006 Linersville Road in reference to an assault and robbery.

When the deputy arrived, the victim told him that on Oct. 12 two men attacked him. He said one of the men choked him with a towel while the other hit him in the face. The victim said both men beat him until he lost consciousness. When he regained consciousness, the victim said his assailants had taken his wallet which contained his identification, Social Security card and $2,000 from a check he’d cashed earlier.

The victim told the deputy that he’d like to be taken to the hospital by EMS so he could be seen by a doctor. The EMS was called to the scene and took the victim to the emergency room. He also also issued a victim’s form.

Burglary, Copper Theft

BUFFALO — An abandoned house was twice the target of metal thieves within the past four months.

The incident report stated that a deputy met with the victim at the sheriff’s office on Friday in reference to a burglary and larceny of copper.

The victim said he owns a house at 225 South St. in Buffalo and that approximately four months earlier someone took an air conditioning unit from the window then took the compressor and copper wire out of it. He said he didn’t report the theft at the time.

When he arrived at the house, the victim said saw that the front door was open even though he’d shut and locked it the last time he’d been there. He said he also saw what was left of the air conditioner.

On Thursday, the victim said he was back at the house and saw where someone had gone under the building and took some copper wire connected to a water heater.

The victim said the house has been abandoned for seven to eight years and that he periodically checks on the some buildings he owns on South Street. He said air conditioning unit was valued at $200 and the copper wire taken from under the house is valued at $20.

Amplifiers Stolen

UNION —An unlocked car proved be quite inviting to the thief or thieves who stole two amplifiers out the vehicle earlier this month.

The incident report stated that a deputy was dispatched Friday evening to 124 Bates Avenue Extension, Union, in reference to a break-in of a vehicle.

The victim told the deputy that sometime between Oct. 1 and that morning someone took two amplifiers out of his car while it was parked in his yard. He said the car was unlocked and that there was no damage to it.

The amplifiers have a combined value of $200.

Arrests

The following persons were arrested by the sheriff’s office.

Tommie Lee Means Jr., 43, 105 N. Enterprise St., Union, charged Friday with breach of peace and refusing to leave upon owner’s request.

Christin Lynn Clark, 24, 200 Francis Ave., Union, charged Friday with breach of peace.

Christopher Allen Clark, 24, 200 Francis Ave., Union, charged Friday with breach of peace.
