UNION — A Union man ended up in jail for allegedly picking up a woman and slamming her onto a couch.

Deon Depree Thompson, 21, 1007 Santuc Drive, was charged by the Union Public Safety Department with malicious damage and criminal domestic violence.

The incident report stated that the victim came to the public safety department on Oct. 2 in reference to a domestic disturbance.

The woman said that Thompson, who she said was the father of her child, told her that he was moving to Spartanburg. She said when she returned home from work around 4 p.m. that afternoon, Thompson was there. The woman said she was trying to clean up her house and told Thompson to move out of her way. She said she also told him he needed to give her the key to her residence.

After being told this, the woman said Thompson became angry and pushed her, telling her not to disrespect him. She said she attempted to leave but Thompson would not let her and pushed her again, causing her to rip her pants in the process. The victim said Thompson then picked her up and slammed her on the couch. She said he also broke her phone, causing approximately $250 worth of damage.

Thompson was arrested Saturday morning.

More Criminal Domestic Violence

A Union man was arrested for allegedly pushing and cursing a woman.

Calvin Sherone Stevens, 31, 221 Lawson Ave., was charged by the public safety department with disorderly conduct and criminal domestic violence.

The incident report stated that an officer was called to 1072 W. Main St. Friday morning in reference a domestic disturbance.

The victim said she’d gotten up early that morning and took her daughter to Stevens’ home so he could go with the child on a field trip. She said Stevens is her ex-boyfriend and her daughter’s father.

When she dropped her daughter off, the victim said she told Stevens he could use her car when he took their daughter on a field trip because the heat worked better than in his car. She told Stevens that when he brought her home had to return her car.

The victim said Stevens arrived at her home with the daughter around 11:30 a.m. She said she had a male visitor, who she said was a relative of Stevens, in her home when they arrived.

As Stevens entered her home, the victim said he saw his relative leaving out the back door. She said the relative did so to avoid a possible fight.

The victim said Stevens ran out the front door and around the side of the building looking for his relative. She said he reentered the building through the back and began pushing her about the body and shoving her in the face with his hands. The woman said she told Stevens that if he kept pushing her she would call the police. She said Stevens, using an obscenity, told her to call the police.

When she went outside to get the keys to her car, the victim said Stevens began shoving her again, causing her to stumble. She said Stevens also began shouting profanities. The victim said she then walked over to where a maintenance man was working, told him of the situation and asked for his help in getting Stevens to leave. She said when the maintenance man showed up, Stevens left in her car and drove away, continuing to shout profanities.

The officer issued the victim a victim’s advocate form. He then left to go and speak with Stevens about the incident.

When he arrived, the officer was told by Stevens that when he went to the victim’s residence to drop off their child and saw his relative leaving, he became angry and did act in a disorderly manner. He denied pushing the victim.

Stevens was arrested and taken to jail. He was also issued a trespassing notice for the trailer park where the victim lives.

After Smith was taken to jail, the victim came to his residence and retrieved her car.

Assault And Battery

A Union man was arrested after he allegedly grabbed a woman.

Francis P. Johnson, 42, 2320 Lockhart Highway was charged by the public safety department with assault and battery after allegedly grabbing a woman’s buttocks.

The incident report states an officer was dispatched Saturday night to 803 S. Pinckney St. where the victim said Johnson had grabbed her by the buttocks and asked her when she was going to have sex with him. She said Johnson left, driving down West Henrietta Street in a cream colored truck.

The officer located the vehicle on West Henrietta Street. Johnson was taken into custody and transported back to Pinckney Street where the victim identified him. He was then taken to jail.

Grand Larceny

A Union man was arrested this weekend for allegedly selling a woman’s car to a scrapyard in September.

Gerald Lamont Smith, 37, 140 Early St., was charged by the public safety department with grand larceny.

The incident report stated that an officer was dispatched Sept. 20 to 207 Carson St. where the victim told him that someone had stolen her 1995 Ford Escort.

The victim said the car had broken down a year ago and she’d had it towed to the Carson Street residence. She said she’d gotten a call on Sept. 19 from the resident who asked her if she’d gotten her car and she told him she hadn’t. The woman said she then went to Carson Street and saw for herself that the vehicle was gone.

The victim told the officer that she had a loan on the vehicle with a local company. The officer then went to the company and spoke to the manager who confirmed the woman had a loan on her car, but they did get the vehicle.

The officer then contacted a local scrapyard and was told Smith had sold them the car on Sept. 19. They then went to the Carson Street residence and got the car.

The report stated that by the time the officer called, the car had been crushed at the scrapyard. The vehicle had an estimated value of $2,700.

Smith was arrested Saturday night.

Malicious Damage

A Buffalo man was arrested for allegedly damaging another man’s moped.

Rusty Wayne Knox, 24, 115 Sweet Water Drive, Buffalo, was charged by the public safety department with malicious damage to property.

The incident report stated that an officer was called Thursday night to 719 N. Duncan Bypass in Union in reference to an act of vandalism.

The victim said he was at 719 N. Duncan Bypass that evening as were Knox and some of his friends. He said he left because he was scared of what might happen. The man said he went outside and hid behind some boxes beside a nearby business. He said Knox and his friends then came outside and Knox kicked over his Gator moped causing approximately $800 in damages.

Knox was arrested Friday night.

Arrests

The following persons were arrested by the public safety department.

James Andrew Jeter, 64, 1300 S. Pinckney St., #304, Union, charged Friday with disorderly conduct.

Sylvia Jayne Smith, 52, 491 Chapman Road, #49, Union, charged Friday with shoplifting.

Gregory Lamont Shorter, 40, 119 Church St., Carlisle, charged Friday with driving under suspension.

Amos Lawrence Beacham III, 57, 309 Gage Ave., Union, charged Saturday with disorderly conduct.
