Hits were scarce for Post 22 Junior Legion on Tuesday in game one of the best of three series at Rock Hill and Union took a 5-2 loss.
“We did not hit the ball well at all,” said Assistant Coach Craig King. “With only four hits you are not going to score a lot of runs.”
Post 22 also struggled in the field, committing four errors that led to three Rock Hill runs.
Gage Eaves took the loss from the mound allowing four hits over the course of five innings. Eaves allowed two earned runs and three unearned before Phillip King came on in relief. King threw two innings of shutout ball and also contributed one of Union’s four hits.
Union’s other three hits came by way of Jayshua Gist, Jacob Roper and Michael Todd Harris.
“If we didn’t have the errors, this is a different ballgame,” said King. “We are a better team than the one that showed up Monday night.”
