A Jonesville teenager is in the Union County Jail for allegedly beating and robbing a man in his own home earlier this month.

Jaaron Dewilliams Brannon, 18, 439 Eisontown Road, Jonesville, is charged by the Union Public Safety Department with burglary first-degree and strong-armed robbery. Brannon is accused of entering an apartment at 720 Lakeside Drive on the night of Jan. 4 and attacking and robbing the resident.

In reporting the attack, the victim said he and a guest were watching TV when there was a knock at the door. When asked who it was the person outside the door identified himself as Marcus and said he was from downstairs and wanted to know if the victim had a cigarette he could have. The victim looked through the peephole and saw a black male in a camouflage jacket with his back to the door. He said he then told the man to leave from outside his apartment. The man did so but kept his back to the door.

A short time later the guest went to go out to his car and when he opened the door the black male in the camouflage jacket entered the apartment. In addition to the camouflage jacket, the intruder was wearing black gloves, dark jeans and a mask. Once inside he yelled several times for the victim to give him the money and then started punching him about the the face and head.

When he went to get his wallet and give his assailant what little money he had, the victim said his attacker followed him into his bedroom, shoved him onto the bed and continued hitting him. The guest shouted for the attacker to get off the victim and then got the wallet and handed it over to him. The attacker then fled the apartment.

The wallet contained approximately $40-$50 in cash along with the victim’s credit cards and personal documents.

First Sgt. Troy Wright said an investigation into the incident determined Brannon was the attacker. Brannon was arrested Tuesday and transported to the Union County Jail where he remained as of Friday morning.

Malicious Damage

Getting into an argument is never a good thing, but it’s especially bad if it lands you in jail for allegedly vandalizing a car.

Sterling Lamar Henderson, 37, 148 Doe Jeter Road, Buffalo, is charged by the public safety department with malicious damage.

A public safety officer was dispatched to 175 Industrial Park Road Monday afternoon in response to a report of a fight. When he arrived, the officer was flagged down by a woman who said she was about to call the police to report her car had been vandalized.

The officer asked the woman what had happened and she told him Henderson had gotten into an argument with her. She said while she was standing in the breezeway leading to her apartment she saw Henderson keying her car.

In his report, the officer states there was a fresh, deep scratch all around the car. He writes he spoke with another woman who said she saw Henderson key the victim’s car.

Henderson was arrested Tuesday.

Investigation

The following incident is being investigated by the public safety department:

Larceny

An officer was dispatched Tuesday morning in response to a report of larceny of tools from a storage building at 1111 Lakeside Drive.

The victim told the officer that he’d left some of his power tools in the storage building around 5:30 p.m. Monday. When he went out to the building around 9:30 a.m. the next morning they were gone.

The officer and the victim went to the building to check for signs of forced entry. The building has a roll-up door and the officer reports the door’s top left corner was off-track. Given the small size of the gap between the door and the frame, the officer concluded it was unlikely for someone to have entered through it.

The victim said he wasn’t sure if he locked the door when he left Monday. An examination of the lock determined it wasn’t working.

The report states a Paslode nailgun and a circular saw with a combined value of $500 were missing from the building.

Arrests

The following persons were arrested by the public safety department:

Kimberly Fay Stevens, 38, 720 Lakeview Heights, charged Thursday with shoplifting.

Richard OBryant Brandon, 24, 105 McBeth St., Union, charged Friday with public drunk and simple possession of marijuana.
