Yellow Jacket Tennis

UCHS tennis lost to Riverside last night 2 to 5.  Lauren Harrison was Union County’s only winner at singles. She won 6-2, 6-4 over Grace Elsey.  In other singles matches, Kelsey Harris UC lost to Walker Calhoun 3-6, 1-6.  Abby Allen lost to Irena Danescu 4-6, 2-6.  Kristen Martin lost 3-6, 1-6 to Kathryn Goodwin and Logan Wade lost to Rachel Booth 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 8-10.

In doubles, Jackets’ Harris and Harrison won 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 over Walker and Danescu and Brittany Ledford and Rachel Jones lost to Stebbins and Stoikov 3-6, 4-6.

“This was a tough one to take,” coach Kelly Jenkins said. “We were in second place behind Clinton with a shot at a region championship. Now we will need some help just to have a shot at making the playoffs. It just wasn't our best effort as a team.
