Does deployment mean anything to you? It does to me. My daddy is in the Army. He is gone to Kosovo until next year. It really affects my family. Sometimes I wonder if my baby brother wonders where he is. When my dad is gone, he misses mine and all of my siblings birthdays and holidays.

My dad has served in Japan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Kosovo. I worry about him when he leaves, knowing that he is not in a safe place. It gets harder as me and my sister get older. When I was younger it didn’t cross my mind that he could get hurt or something bad could happen to him.

When he comes home it doesn’t seem real not seeing him a whole year. Every holiday we make these care packages for every soldier so they don’t feel forgotten.

It’s hard for my step-mom not having my dad there to help her cook, clean and help with the baby. Paying bills is also hard with her being the only one working.

I want to thank all of the soldiers that fight for our freedom. I wonder where we would be without the freedom we have. I love you all! If you ever see a soldier, take the time to tell them thank you.
