The Union Public Safety Department reported the following arrests:

— Jason Michael McGowan, 36, and Teresa Lynn Best-McGowan, 34, of 521 North Pinckney Street, Union, were both charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult, financial transaction card fraud and breach of trust on Jan. 23. According to arrest warrants, the husband and wife spent in excess of $40,000 of the victim’s money for their own personal gain between Sept. 21, 2012 and Jan. 17, 2013. The victim was deemed a vulnerable adult by two physicians, and during that time, Jason Michael McGowan had power of attorney for the victim.

— Quanisha Shantella Spears, 18, of 1111 Lakeside Drive, Union, was charged with carrying a weapon on school property around 2:20 p.m. on Jan. 23. According to the arrest warrant, Spears had in her possession a box cutter (razor blade) while at Union County High School.

— Wayneisha Deann Smith, 20, of 13 May Street, Union, was charged with trespassing around 11:20 a.m. on Jan. 23.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:

— Kenneth Everette Ball, 44, and Gena Marie Gregory, 28, both of 3647 Buffalo West Springs Highway, Union, were charged with attempting to purchase narcotics around 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 23. Ball was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the incident report, two bags of syringes were found in Ball’s vehicle, and a syringe and pill bottle were found in his coat pocket. Both Ball and Gregory were transported to Union County Jail.

— Kendrick Jamar Thomas, 35, of 353 Gus Street, Spartanburg and Darren Rashad Thomas, 19, of 396 South Converse Street, Spartanburg, were both charged with distribution of crack cocaine. Kendrick Jamar Thomas was also charged with driving under suspension. According to the incident report, an operative was wired with audio and video equipment and given $200 of recorded government funds to purchase crack cocaine from Kendrick Thomas. After a transaction was made, both Thomas subjects were pulled over by officers and arrested.
