COLUMBIA, SC – U.S. Congressman Gresham Barrett’s gubernatorial campaign announced Friday that Beth Summer-Strait and Bryan Shaver will serve as its Union County Co-Chairs.

The campaign stated that county co-chairs play a pivotal role in Barrett’s statewide grassroots efforts by spreading hiss conservative vision for job creation, organizing their respective communities, providing the campaign with valuable feedback, and keeping local supporters up-to-date on campaign news and events.

Summer-Strait, former Union County Republican Party Chairman, highlighted Barrett’s commitment to job creation in voicing her support for the Upstate Republican.

“Union County has been especially hard hit by the recent recession,” Summer-Strait said. “People here are looking for leadership from our next Governor. We need someone who is focused on turning around our economy. I believe Gresham Barrett is that leader. He’s run a small business. He understands the challenges facing employers in these tough times. He’s prepared to lead our state’s economic recovery, and I am proud to support him.”

Shaver added, “I have been blessed with two children. I want to do everything I can to make sure they have a bright and promising future. That’s why I am standing with Gresham Barrett. He’s a good, honest man with strong conservative principles. He has a vision for our state and he is committed to making sure South Carolina returns to its rightful place of being the Southeast’s leader in economic development.”

Barrett expressed gratitude for his Union County Co-Chairs, saying, “Beth and Bryan are a welcomed addition to our team. Their leadership in Union County will be a bright spot for our campaign. I am excited and honored to have them on board.”
