Wow! I went over to Margaret and Chuck’s Saturday night, and they just happened to have Friday’s paper, so I decided to read my story. I guess I was so tired while writing it I did not know that I almost took up the whole page. Margaret said there was so much that she could only read half one day and the other half the next. So I’ll try to do better.

Up All Night

Speaking of Saturday night, Chuck said we would eat some place fast, so we could get back home and watch the race at Darlington. Yeah! So, Marty, Margaret, Chuck and I watched the race, and pretended we saw our friends that were actually there. Let’s back up a little, they watched the race and I kind of fell asleep. I think that I just stay up too late at night. I think I’m so afraid that I’ll miss something, so I stay up late and then when Saturday night comes, I just am a goner.

Food Drive

I went to see a lady named Dawn today, and she wanted me to get the word out that she was giving free food out at the Salvation Army to needy families. She said just bring proof of income, ID, and if you get food stamps, bring proof of how much you get. (The DSS can print a paper out for you real fast.) The food drive is Monday-Friday from 10-12 a.m. She is located at the back entrance behind the Salvation Army clothing store.

Working On Mother’s Day

Well I worked Mother’s Day, as usual. Gina wasn’t too happy about it, but I figured I’d find some needed project to do at home. So I thought I’d treat myself to rest and relaxation and go and cut hair. But I think I’ll take next Mother’s Day off and see if she wants to plan something for us to do. So I hope all of you mothers enjoyed your day, Sunday. Next is Father’s Day!

Sliding Swing

It was told to me that some of you think that Chuck is lazy, because I pick on him all the time, but actually he’s not, when it comes to his work and projects. With mine, he does it tomorrow, when I’m a yesterday person. He says that if he gets my list of doing done, then I won’t need him any longer,so that is why he never gets done with my wants. Sunday he brought my old swing down from the hill and fixed it like I wanted for the beauty shop yard. But I have such a steep back yard that while trying to carry it by himself, he slid down the hill, but didn’t drop the swing. Well, the top part did separate from the base while he was sliding. I missed the action.

House Sale

Cricket called and told me that Inez Cabiness is selling her house in No Man’s Land. She moved a couple of years ago to Georgia to be near her family. Her son Jackie is a preacher there. I know she misses everyone here, but sometimes in our life we just have to do what we have to do.

Birthdays

Well, Dolly Broome told me that Debbie Hill had a birthday May 13, so Happy Belated Birthday, Debbie. Jimmy Williams had one on the 15th, Misty Horton, on the 17th, and today, the 18th of May, I want to say Happy Birthday to Ray Duncan, Linda Williams, Briana Childers, and Mark Childers. The 19th was Mazel Lee Palmer. On the 20th was Tina Fowler, Kitty Vinson, Bill McLeod. On the 21st was Rozelle Eaves, Mary Price Jenny Peay, Kaleigh Swad, and Suzanne Horton. And on the 23rd, my daughter Gina shares her birthday with Carolyn Edwards, Brian Fowler, Debbie Parker. and Chris Patrick.

Anniversaries

The 19th is Betty and Sandy Loyd. The 12th is Donald (Poodle) and Tonya Revis. The 14th is Wayne and Cathy Nations.

Well I had a flat tire on my car while it was in my driveway. Thank goodness I was not driving.

Chuck came over and tried to fix it with a plug, but it would not work. I want you to know, he came in the dark, laid on the ground, in my driveway, let the mosquitoes eat him alive, looking for a leak. I kept saying why don’t you put water on the tire to find it. He kept feeling. I said didn’t you use to put water on the tire to see where the leak is. Finally, he suggested that I find a spray bottle and put soap and water in it so he can put it on the tire to find the hole. And there it was! Bubbles!

Fixing A Tire

Well he kept trying to plug it and it wouldn’t plug, so I kept saying why don’t you put the spare on and I’ll go tomorrow and get new tires. He kept trying so hard to plug it, and finally he said he just needed to put the spare on so I can drive it to town tomorrow. Well after a struggle to take the new jack apart (that’s also a funny story), it was a struggle to put the jack back together. He made fun of me, because I got the manual out to see how to get it apart. Then the law stopped, he was just making his rounds and stopped to say hi, and I asked him if he knew how to get this thing back together, he took it and asked to see the manual, because he does pictures, I turned to Chuck and said See! Before long we had a nice community visit. Chuck and I can gather a crowd and love every minute of it.

Teasing

No matter what project we are doing, someone, or a lot of someones, are going to stop and chat. That’s why I like this place, everyone is so friendly and knows how to pick on Chuck. I don’t mean to do it, but I come from a family of teasers, and it’s just in my blood. Right after I got married (up North), my husband said that he thought I didn’t love him, because I was always teasing him, so I quit. Then he said that he thought that I didn’t love him because I didn’t tease him any longer (by this time he got used to my family). So what did I do? I don’t remember.

New Grandchild

Sammy and Lisa Baines have a new granddaughter from their daughter Mindy. She’s just a few days old.

I just looked at the clock and it’s after 2 am. and I’m brain dead so I’m going to say goodnight, 545-6652 Maybe I’ll have some news about someone else, sometimes.
