For the second year, the Union County Health Care Foundation will offer local hunters the opportunity to have bragging rights for a year, a $250 cash prize and a chance to be instrumental in improving healthcare in Union County.

Registration for the foundation’s “Outdoorsman’s Dream Biggest Buck Competition” begins on Wednesday, Aug. 1. The winner will be awarded a “Biggest Buck” trophy and a cash prize — a percentage of funds raised based on participation — on Jan. 9, 2013.

Those who are interested may register at the Union County Health Care Foundation office, which is located in the lobby of Wallace Thomson Hospital. There is a $20 entry fee for those who register between Aug. 1-31, and a late entry fee of $30 for those who register between Sept. 1-Nov. 30.

What To Do

1. Take your “biggest buck” to any deer cooler and have an enclosed validation ticket completed.

2. Fill out information on opposite side of validation ticket.

3. Have a picture taken with the deer.

4. Return validated ticket along with a picture of you and your deer to:

UCHCF, Attn: Catherine Childers, PO Box 156, Union, SC 29379 OR take your picture and ticket to the Union County Health Care Foundation office, located in the lobby of Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Validation tickets with pictures must be turned in by Jan. 3, 2013.

All racks will be judged by Boone and Crocket Club scoring system, of which details are available at www.boone-crockett.org.

During the first week of January, several comparable “biggest bucks” will be judged to determine the winner. A chosen few will be notified of a time and place to bring their racks for judging.

The Union County Health Care Foundation is a network of citizens whose goal is to identify and secure additional funding to supplement the efforts of Wallace Thomson Hospital, Ellen Sagar Nursing Home, the Emergency Medical Service (EMS), and the medical community of Union County in providing high quality, cost effective health care.

The purpose of the Union County Health Care Foundation is to raise funds through charitable donations and fundraising events like the Biggest Buck Competition, which will be applied to the healthcare needs of the citizens of Union County.
