Saturday was Chuck’s birthday, so Anita and Marvin invited us to go with them to their favorite fish camp in Gaffney. We had a really nice time, but don’t ask where we went or how we got there. You know Gaffney is off my route. It’s a place that I’ve tried to get to and also from and always got lost in the past. So unless Marvin takes me there, I won’t go. On the way home he said, just turn here, and a left or right there, forget it.
Shopping For A Present
Anyway, we went to Walmart afterwards (in Gaffney). Chuck was wanting to look at gun safes. I was going to buy him a light bulb, but Anita decided that could be her birthday present to Chuck. See I bought him a lamp and shade and he got all whiny ‘cause I didn’t add a light bulb. This lamp was deer horns, I am trying to have him make his home manly. Anyway, I still had to buy him a bulb, because he informed me it took a 3-way, and the bulb we found Saturday was just 1-way.
Digging In The Yard
Well, if you drive by this weekend and see two crazy females digging in my yard, it will just be Gina and I. We are still having a rough time with that satellite pole. Remember I told you how the wind last Wednesday tore it out of the ground.
Well Gina has propped it up with lots of dirt and rocks, so now she says that we will dig a new hole and secure it better. Every few hours we have to go out and move it a little to have a picture. I keep telling her that I can call Directv, but she thinks it will cost money and she’s a do-it-yourselfer. Only she gets me into these projects. I’m off work this weekend, that’s why she’s waiting.
Remember In Prayer
Let’s pray for Joyce Turner, it seems she fell and broke her hip and wrist, Sunday. Debbie P. told me that Regina wasn’t feeling too well, so pray for our friend. Jennette Johnson’s still in rehab, so please pray for her to get well soon. Angie Cabiness is home from the hospital now, so pray she gets stronger.
My sympathy goes to Gail Turner’s family. She passed away this last week.
Barbecue Sale And Wild Game Supper
March 1 the Lockhart Fire Department will be having a sale for barbecue. I know Marvin was selling tickets, so see any of the firemen and buy one. That’s lunch. Then in the evening you can go to the First Baptist Church’s wild game supper. Of course you have to have a ticket for that.
I still have a 3-room apartment available, you can call town hall at 545-2103 or me at 545-6652. It does not come furnished, and it’s $300 a month.
Please be careful when driving on Lockhart Drive from #9 to the dam, you may encounter several deer.
I heard the fire alarm the other night and saw the fire truck go down toward the school. Later I found out that someone flipped their car trying to avoid a deer. So please be on the lookout.
I know when Gina and I come home from Spartanburg we always see them on the hill at the Mansion. Two deer came right at the side of Chuck’s truck one night while he was taking me home, and I screamed for him to stop. So they just walked on across the road.
While driving through South Carolina, I kept on having to slow down for road repair crews. To keep the workers safe, the highway department posted a series of signs that read, “Let ‘em work, Let ‘em live.” On one of the signs an exasperated motorist had added, “Let ‘em finish!”
The day I started my construction job, I was in the office filling out an employee form when I came to the section that asked: Single____, Married____, Divorced____. I marked single. Glancing at the man next to me, who was also filling out his form, I noticed he hadn’t marked any of the blanks. Instead he’d written, “Yes, in that order.”
Driving To Spartanburg
Well, I took Chuck Wednesday morning, after he worked 3rd, to Spartanburg to get his new glasses, finally. I think he only waited about a week. He called Tuesday and said they were in, so I told him to go up there. Well now you know the rest. He hates to drive in Spartanburg. So after I took him home so he could get some sleep, I turned around and took Gina to Spartanburg. And today they called and said mine were ready. Well I guess it will be another week before I go to get them.
I’m tired, so I’ll say good night and you can call with news at 864-545-6652.
