UNION — Mrs. Ruby Irene Wix Helms, 81, wife of Harry O. Helms, 2029 Jonesville Highway, Union, S.C. passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Helms was born in Union, S.C. June 25, 1932, a daughter of the late Wallace Benjamin Wix and Viola Whitlock Wix. She retired from Cone Mill after 39 years of service. Mrs. Helms was a member of Fosters Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member of Carlisle Hart Sunday School Class.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Linda H. Mitchell and husband Terry and Carolyn H. Belue and husband Neil, all of Union; a son, Kenneth L. Helms and wife Emily of Greenville; a granddaughter, Stephanie Russell and husband Stephen; two grandsons, Josh Belue and wife Crystal and Allen Mitchell and wife Kristin; and three great-grandsons, Corey Garner, Michael Russell and Luke Belue, all of Union.

Mrs. Helms was predeceased by a granddaughter, Leah Mitchell; a sister, Maybelle Wix; and four brothers, “Booster” Wix, Robert Wix, Dewey Lee Wix and George Wix.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at Foster’s Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Glenn Ribelin. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Gregg Walker, Steve Trammell, Toney Farr, David Taylor, Bryan Brackins and Wayne Tollison.

Honorary pallbearers will be the special caregivers of Mrs Helms, Celeste West, Deborah Bradburn, Delores Hill and Marlene Davis.

Visitation will be held 1:30-2:50 p.m. Friday at the church prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Gentevia Hospice of Greenville or to Foster’s Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O Box 611, Union, S.C. 29379.

The family is at the home 2029 Jonesville Highway, Union.
