UNION — Mrs. Ruth Robinson Gossett, 96, 727 Vernon Foster Road, Union, widow of Charles W. Gossett, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at her home.
Mrs. Gossett was born in Cherokee County on May 20, 1917, a daughter of the late Aubry R. and Bessie Blanton Robinson. She retired from Conso Products. Mrs. Gossett was a faithful member of New Hope United Methodist Church for over 70 years. As long as her health permitted she was a member of the United Methodist Women and was a member of the Women’s Sunday School Class of New Hope United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Frost and husband Lewis of Union; three sons, Jimmy Gossett and wife Conny of Gaffney, Henry Gossett and wife Mary Helen of Union, and Kenneth Gossett and wife Mary Ruth of Jonesville; one brother, Ray Robinson and wife Catherine of Pacolet; five grandchildren, Angie Foster, Heather Sparks and husband Bruce, Nicole Gregory and husband Nick, Jason Gossett and wife Tiffany, and Terry Martin; 11 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kyle Foster; Evan, Madelyn, and Joseph Sparks; J.T., Grayson, Josiah Gossett; MaKayla, Gavin, and Hailey Gregory; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by three brothers, William, Leonard, and Arthur Robinson; two sisters, Annie Wix and Marie Robinson; and one grandson, Christopher Gossett.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at New Hope United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. James Ivey and Rev.Vernon Thornhill. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Bruce Sparks, Jr., Nick Gregory, Jason Gossett, and Evan Sparks.
The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, The Men and Women’s Sunday School Class and The United Methodist Women of New Hope United Methodist Church along with Judy Graham, Betty Jo Holcombe, Margaret Wade, Vonda Morris and the nurses of Hospice Care of South Carolina — Union, Pam Phelps, Sandy Ivey, Gwen Ivey, and Dawn Gault.
Visitation will be held 1- 2:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the services in the church.
