CARLISLE — Bernice Jeter Mobley Land, 71, 3134 Berry Farm Road, died Jan. 13, 2014 in Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, S.C.


A native of Union, she was the wife of Calvin Sylvester Land and daughter of the late Andrew Jeter and Emma Miller Jeter Hampton. She attended the public schools of Union County and was a member of Saint Luke AME Zion Church where served as an Usher and was a member of the Choir.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Randolph Jeter, Comer Jeter, Bobby Jeter, and Robert Jeter.


Survivors in addition to her husband include two sons, James William (Jovonnie) Mobley Jr. of Columbia, S.C., and Derrick Mobley, Esq., of Irmo, S.C.; one stepson, Sean Avery Hall; two daughters, Barbara Lynn Mobley Delaney of Columbia, S.C. and Timika Shereese Land of the home; two brothers, James Andrew “Sonny” Jeter of Union, S.C. and Thomas E. Jeter of Union, S.C.; five sisters, Carrie Jeter of Steubenville, OH, and Yvonne Chick, Sally (Bruce) Rice, Annie Rose Dugger, and Charlotte Jeter Crank, all of Carlisle, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of precious nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke AME Zion Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home.
