SIMPSONVILLE — Roger Dale Mitchell, 67, husband of Lois Benton Mitchell for 38 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Union to the late Edward David Mitchell and Bessie Faye Farr Mitchell. He was retired from American General Finance. He was an active member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church where he served as an assistant teacher in the Serving Heart’s Sunday School class. He cherished spending time with his grandsons and his grand-bulldog “Tank.” He was an Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed coaching and watching little league football and baseball.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, Blake Mitchell and girlfriend Courtney Richard; a daughter, Betsy Dominick and husband Joey; two grandsons, Elliott and Lucas Dominick; his beloved grand-bulldog “Tank,” a sister, Patricia Lawson and husband Larry, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Victor “Vick” Mitchell.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service.
A Celebration of Roger’s Life will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Simpsonville First Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Randy Harling and Rev. Doug Jones. Burial will be in the Simpsonville City Cemetery.
