UNION — Mrs. Ruth Rogers, 93, 202 Hillcrest Drive, Union, widow of Jessie Silas Rogers Jr., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at Oakmont Nursing Home.
Mrs. Rogers was born in Union, S.C. on Oct. 20, 1919, a daughter of the late Sheffie Columbus “Shep” and Ethel Bentley Stines. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Rogers was retired from Milliken & Co. Monarch Plant. She was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. As long as her health permitted she was a member of Jimmy Smith Sunday School class and the Winnie Couch Circle.
Surviving are her twin sons, Donald Rogers and wife Marilyn and Ronald Rogers and wife Rosa; three grandchildren, Erin Bullman and husband Shane, Julie Thomas and husband Jason, and Christopher Rogers; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Morgan, and Ryan Bullman and Ian and Ivy Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rogers was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Paul Stines; and one sister, Ellen Nelson.
Graveside Services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Ralph Brown and Rev. Gregory Barefoot. The family will receive friends immediately following the committal services.
