Lucile ‘Lucy’ Vaughan Kruse
COLUMBUS, OHIO — Lucile “Lucy” Vaughan Kruse, 85, died Sept. 17, 2013 at Grant Medical Center.
Survived by her husband of 58 years, Lt. Col. Herbert T. Kruse, USAF Ret.; son Robert Green Jr. of Atlanta, GA; daughter Kathy (Grant) Wolfe of Blacklick, OH.
Lucy was a devoted wife and mother. She worked for many years as an executive secretary at Capital University (Bexley) and also earlier at Merrimack Elementary School in Hampton, VA. She was manager of the Thrift Club at both Donaldson Air Force Base, S.C. and Langley Air Force Base, VA. Lucy was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where she and Herb chaired the Youth Committee for several years. She was also a member of the Bexley Women’s Club and the Bexley Art Guild. Lucy was born in Danville, VA on Oct. 13, 1927. She graduated from Union High School in Union, S.C. and attended Capital University where she studied painting and photography.
A “high-spirited and vivacious” Southern Belle, everyone who knew her will miss her warm smile, sweet southern accent and vibrant personality.
She was preceded in death by her sister Mary V. Harris.
She is also survived by her sister Betty Ann (Charles) Kalemjian of Exton, PA; brother-in-law Ralph P. Harris and niece Kitsie Harris Robertson, both of Spartanburg, S.C.; cousin Deanie Rector of Union, S.C. and June Carroll of Seneca, SC; nieces and nephews, Blair Kalemjian, Charmia Kalemjian Horblinski, Citreese Kalemjian Keller, niece and nephew Nancy Lawing and Fred Howard; great-nieces Kristen Davis McClain, Dawn Robertson Sharrett and Amy Robertson Young; great-nieces and grand-nephews Kyle Kalemjian, Christopher Kalemjian, Jada and Jenna Horblinski.
The family extends special thanks to the nurses, caregivers and staff at Wexner Heritage Village for their loving and gentle care.
Friends may call on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, 5-8 p.m. at the Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 East State St., Columbus, OH and Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 9-10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 E. Main St., Bexley, OH 43209 where a funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. Pastor Thomas A. Wolfe and Pastor Tim Iseringhausen will officiate. Interment will follow immediately at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, 8029 E. Main St., Reynoldsburg, OH.
