GREENVILLE — Howard Eugene Baker, 86, of Greenville, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013.
Born in Clanton, Ala., he was a son of the late Stephen Lee and Ella Louise Bice Baker.
Mr. Baker served in the U.S. Navy and served as the post commander for American Legion Post #3. He worked as a director of process engineering at Miliken and earned a degree in engineering from Auburn University. He was also a member, Sunday school teacher, and former deacon at Pendleton Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Cody Baker (Kemmerlin), of Charleston; William S. Baker (Norma), of Mountville; Howard E. Baker, Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla.; Michael A. Baker, of Prattville, Ala.; step-daughter, Kimberly Brock, of Greenville; step-son, Richard Brock (Stephanie), of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by first wife, Annie Ruth Johnson Baker; second wife, Frances “Fran” (Stegall) Baker; a brother; and a sister.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. Visitation will follow the service until 5:30 p.m.
Visitation in Alabama will be Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home, 1300 4th Avenue North, Clanton, Ala. 35045. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Clanton, Ala.
