UNION — Mr. Harold Dean O’Dell, Sr., 82, husband of Peggy Farr O’Dell, 4357 Lockhart Highway, Union, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at Heartland Healthcare.
Mr. O’Dell was born in Union, S.C. on Nov. 13, 1930 a son of the late Walter and Kate Lackey O’Dell. He was a graduate of Union High School and was retired from Broad River Electric as a service technician. Mr. O’Dell was a veteran of the US Army — Signal Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was a faithful member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church as long as his health permitted. Mr. O’Dell was a Mason with Lockhart Lodge #244 and was a Shriner.
Surviving in addition to his wife are, a son, Harold O’Dell Jr. of Union; a grandson, Wesley Greer and his mother, Susan of Lockhart.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Jeremiah O’Dell and two brothers, Otis Keith O’Dell and Walter Murray O’Dell.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Donna Eidson, Rev. Merritt Wentz, and Rev. Allen Quarles. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Barry O’Dell, Reese O’Dell, Michael O’Dell, Donald O’Dell, Larry O’Dell, and Doug Grant.
The following are asked to sit in a group, the Mary Ruth Vanderford Sunday School Class and Lockhart and Wesley Chapel Senior Citizens group.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
