JONESVILLE — Mrs. Shirley Westmoreland Fleming, 72, wife of Robert Stanley “Bobby” Fleming, Sr., 125 Fleming Hill Road, Jonesville, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.


Mrs. Fleming was born in Gainesville, GA May 19, 1942, a daughter of the late Phillip Deward Westmoreland and Eva Belle Elrod Westmoreland. She was a graduate of Union High School and had attended Augusta College. Mrs. Fleming was retired from Palmetto Federal Savings & Loan where she was the first female appointed branch manager. Following her retirement, she volunteered at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mrs. Fleming along with her husband was involved in the Jaycee’s of Union County for a number of years. She was named Jaycee-ette of the Year in the late 1960’s. Mrs. Fleming was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Curtis Sanders Sunday School Class. Prior to that, she was a member of the Eva Sanders Sunday School Class.


Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Bob Fleming, Jr. and wife Sheryl of Lexington and Phillip Blaine Fleming and wife Kathy of Greenville; a sister, Phyllis Bird and husband Edgar of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Dustin Jay Amesbury, Dylan Fleming and Mary Jane Hyslop; three great-grandchildren, Briana Hyslop, Austin Amesbury and Ashtin Amesbury; and a host of special friends.


Mrs. Fleming was predeceased by a daughter, Frances Elizabeth “Beth” Pettis.


Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Buffalo United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Ron Towery and Rev Kevin Dalton.


Visitation will be held 1:30-2:45 p.m. in the church prior to the service.


Active pallbearers will be Timmy Scarborough, Tommy Scarborough, James Whitehead, Brent Bogan, Sammy Smith, Steve Burris, Steve Bogan and Donnie Bogan.


The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers: Wayne Bogan, Frances Mitchell, Sonja Liner, Ronald Fleming, Clint Smith, Charles West and Monty Jo Bogan.


Memorials may be made to Buffalo United Methodist Church Air Conditioning Fund or the Food Pantry Fund, P.O. Box 176, Buffalo, SC 29321 or Bogansville United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4052 Buffalo West Springs Highway, Jonesville, SC 29353.


The family is at the home, 125 Fleming Hill Road, Jonesville.
