UNION — Helen Ruth Porter Peake, 65, 313 O’Shield Street, died June 16, 2014.
A native of Union, she was the widow of Matthew Peake, Jr. and the daughter of the late Wallace Jeter and Amanda Porter Smith. She was a member of Wyatt’s Chapel Baptist Church, a member of the 1966 Sims High School class, and retired from the Timken Corporation in 2011.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Florence DeShawn Peak; and two brothers, Bobby Porter, Sr. and Joe Wallace Jeter.
She is survived by two sons, Matthew Peake, III and Pierre Peake (Jennifer), both of Union; one daughter, Sharon Porter Foster (Willie) of Union; one brother, Robert Smith of Union; four sisters, Brenda Gail Smith Thompson and Teresa Smith Nash (Kerlinzo), both of Jonesville, Carolyn Smith Edwards (Alvin) of TN, and Helen; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one aunt, Claree Porter Hames; her companion, Willie Nash, Jr.: and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Michael A Glenn Funeral Home, 361 Meansville Road with burial in the Wyatt’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 205 Pinetree Lane, Union.
