UNION — Parents interested in having their children attend the annual Marisha Sharay Jeter Cheer Camp are being asked to go to the cheer camp website to provide organizers with information about the cheerleaders prior to registration Thursday morning.
Camp Director Jessica Sherbert announced that the camp will be held Thursday, July 31 through Saturday, Aug. 2 at the Twist and Shout Cheer & Dance Center. Sherbert said the camp will be held from 9 a.m.-noon each day at the center. She said that during the camp the children attending will be taught dances, cheers, and chants as well as basic tumbling and stunting. A snack will also be served each day.
Sherbert said registration for the camp will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday. She that when they register their child, parents will have to also pay the $20 fee. In addition to enabling their child to participate in the camp, the fee also covers the cost of the t-shirt each child will be given.
All checks should be made payable to Twist & Shout.
Prior to registration, Sherbert recommended that parents who are able to do so go online at the camp website and provide the camp with information about their children.
The website (http://tinyurl.com/MarishaCheerCamp2014) asks parents for the name, t-shirt size, and age of the child who will be taking the camp.
Sherbert said that while it is recommended that parents do this, it is not required. She said if they are unable to go online they can provide that information during registration.
All proceeds from the cheer camp will go to the Marisha Sharay Jeter Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is awarded each year to a female student at Union County High School.
Twist and Shout Cheer & Dance Center is located at 409 Union Boulevard, Union, in the old Owens Lawn and Garden Building.
