UNION — The Sims Middle School boys basketball team lost on the road at Fairforest on Thursday in a final score of 53-30. Coach Darryl Phillips said the team’s season record does not reflect its potential.

“This team has great potential yet I have been unable to ignite any fire in them,” Phillips said.

Quadrik Smith scored 10 points, Desman Kershaw scored six points, Devin Richards and Caleb Vanderford each had five points, while Dudley Thompson and Deandrell Davis scored two points each.

“We have two more regular season games,” Phillips said. “I haven’t given up and I pray the team hasn’t either.”

Sims’ last two games are at home — versus Dawkins at 5 p.m. Monday and McCracken at 5 p.m. Thursday.
