Sims Boys Basketball

The Sims Tigers boys basketball team fell to Boiling Springs 34-21 on Thursday.

“We led the game up until the middle of the second quarter,” said Sims’ Coach Darryl Phillips. “Then we were out hustled, rebounded, and out scored.”

The team’s overall record is 1-8, with eight more games left in the season.

Scorers for Sims were Quadrik Smith (6 points), Desman Kershaw and Malik Porter (4 points each).

Sims Girls Basketball

The Sims Tigers girls basketball team picked up its first victory of the season against Boiling Springs on Thursday, with a final score of 25-24.

The back-and-forth game finished with excitement as Tyzahnie Jeter beat the buzzer with a final, game-winning layup (on her birthday, no less). Leading scorers for Sims were Katelyn Petty (10 points) and Tyzahnie Jeter (8 points).

“The Lady Tigers are going into the Christmas break with more confidence after this win,” said Sims’ Coach Wallace Clayton. “As the coach, I am proud of the team effort to become better basketball players. We as a team are looking forward to getting back into action after the Christmas break.”
