COLUMBIA — The University of South Carolina Gamecocks won their 13th straight home game Saturday, as they are tied with Georgia for the second-longest active streak in the nation.
The Gamecocks defeated Vanderbilt with a final score of 35-25.
The Gamecocks scored on their first four possessions as QB Connor Shaw threw for three touchdowns. Touchdowns were also scored by South Carolina’s Mike Davis and Bruce Ellington.
The Gamecocks’ Jadeveon Clowney — who is expected to be the NFL’s top draft choice next spring — forced a third-quarter fumble despite pain in his foot due to bone spurs. Clowney said his foot pain will subside with rest coming up during the upcoming bye week.
