UNION — A local music festival began Saturday evening and is to be continued this Saturday.

The Union County Chamber of Commerce sponsored the first of two “I Love a Summer Night” Downtown Music Fest events on Main Street in Union. The event featured Greenville-based oldies band Jukebox 45, whose members include Michael Blocker, Bob Fitzgerald, Art Creaney, Brian Styles, and Wally Lanzon.

Sponsors for the event include (Band Sponsors) Founders Federal Credit Union, USC Union, Heartland Healthcare of Union, and Barbara Rippy; and (Block Sponsors) Bell Petroleum & Exxon, Quality Inn, Hart Insurance Agency (Allstate), Timken, City Tire and Lube, and WBCU.

Saturday’s concert did not complete the music fest, however, as another concert will be held this Saturday, July 19, at the same location. This weekend’s concert will feature performances by The Weatherman Band (with Union native and WSPA TV personality Jack Roper) and the Carolina Rhythm Band.

Look for more information about this Saturday’s performers in Thursday’s edition of The Union Daily Times and at www.uniondailytimes.com.
