UNION — Like the rest of the USC Union campus, the first floor of the Main Building is a place of learning and that’s what it will be the evening of Saturday, Aug. 23, with dance classes offered as part of “Art & Soul.”
The Union County Health Care Foundation is sponsoring Art & Soul, which Foundation Director Catherine Childers has described as an interactive evening of art, music and dance which will take place on all three floors of the USC Union Main Building. The purpose of the event is to help the foundation achieve its goal of raising $20,000 to help pay for the construction of a helipad next to Wallace Thomson Hospital.
Art & Soul will be from 7-10 p.m. and during that time the public will have the opportunity of visiting all three floors where they we will be able to enjoy the art, music, and dance offered on each floor throughout the evening.
The first floor will be devoted to dance where Amanda Gregory-Leigh will be teaching dance lessons. There will be three 50-minute dance classes beginning at 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m. The classes, which cost $5 per person per class, will include lessons in Shag and Line Dancing.
During the 10-minute intermissions between the classes, music will be provided by DJ Michael L. Phillips who will also provide the music for the classes.
Reservations for the classes are being accepted. Call 864-301-2466.
Tickets to Art & Soul cost $15 and the ticket will enable the purchaser to enjoy the activities on all three floors. The tickets do not, however, cover the cost of the dance lessons.
The tickets to Art & Soul are now on sale at Midway BBQ, WBCU, Paradise Home Center, and Wallace Thomson Hospital.
The corporate sponsors thus far for Art & Soul are American HomePatient, Arthur State Bank, and Lockhart Power.
