UNION COUNTY — This week’s school board meeting included a presentation regarding use of school facilities.
During Monday’s meeting of the Union County Board of School Trustees, district Financial Officer Lynn Lawson presented Policy KF: Community Use of School Facilities and KF-E: Request for Non-School Use of School Facilities (rental contract) with clarifications on procedures and conditions of use. The presentation was a review being presented as information for first reading.
“There were not really any changes, just cleaning up some wording and clarifying a couple of points to avoid any confusion,” Lawson said.
One point clarified was that only trained school personnel are allowed to operate school sound and lighting systems. All performances, recitals, or other events involving sound systems or stage lighting must have trained school personnel present for the rental event.
The second item that was clarified was the time frame for rental payment. Rental fees are calculated/estimated prior to rental and must be paid no later than one week prior to rental event. Refunds or additional fees incurred at the time of the event will be issued or invoiced following the event.
