UNION COUNTY — A free three-day festival will provide the community with fun and fellowship while delivering the message of God’s love this weekend.

Union County Family Fest will take place this weekend, May 2-4, at Union County Fairgrounds.

The free three-day event promises fun for the whole family, featuring something for everyone.

Each of the three days of festivities will conclude with a message from student speaker and evangelist Brian Burgess, who often speaks at churches, public schools, camps, universities and other gatherings throughout the U.S. and abroad. His message is centered around the story of how Christ transformed him from a rebellious teenager into a man who is passionate about God.

Burgess is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University with a B.A. in religious studies and a Master’s of Divinity in pastoral studies.

Family Fest will begin on Friday, which is “Student Night,” kicking off with a performance by Christian rock/praise and worship band “The Change.” The band — based in Newberry — says on its Reverb Nation web page that its purpose is “to make a difference by using the gifts that God has given us to foster an environment where people can worship God in spirit and in truth, opening a door for God to touch the world through music.”

Another highlight of this weekend’s festival will be The Strength Team, of which members will perform feats of strength and deliver personal testimony. The team’s website states that, “The Strength Team shares the uncompromising message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This clear message of salvation, by grace through faith, is timeless as it speaks to the hearts of people from all generations. The feats of strength are simply the bridge we use to share that message.” The Strength Team will also visit Union County High School, Jonesville Elementary Middle School, Sims Middle School and Lockhart School throughout the day on Friday.
