UNION — This year’s edition of the Uniquely Union Festival will feature Sony Red and the William Morris Agency’s country rock recording group Outshyne. The band, which will headline Friday’s packed day of entertainment, will perform a free concert on the Main Stage beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Outshyne is a country band with all of its members hailing from the Laurens, S.C. area. In 2007, Waylon Owings, Mathew Norris, Casey Joe Kelly, Josh Coleman and Jason Paxton formed the band and played on their days off from work until 2010. That was when they decided to do what they loved and turned to music full-time playing 150-180 dates a year.
Success is beginning to come with their sophomore album “Startin’ Over” which they released in 2013. “Dirt Road Romance,” the first single from that album, reached #29 on the Music Row Chart and #46 on the Billboard Indicator Chart. The album was produced by Grammy-nominated Chip Matthews and hit songwriter Jeffrey Steele and debuted at #11 on iTunes the day it was released.
The band’s second single, “Moonlight Crush,” is currently #24 on the Music Row Chart and #40 on the Billboard Indicator. The two singles combined have over 100,000 downloads and over one million YouTube views.
“We were very fortunate to be able to book a band of this caliber this year,” said Uniquely Union chairperson Jami Trammell. “Who knows? The way that their popularity is growing it’s very possible that they could have a top-ten single on the charts by the time they play for us in September. And, being a local band, they’re sure to bring a big crowd of fans with them. I understand that they have over 23,000 followers on Twitter and nearly 26,000 on Facebook.”
Outshyne has shared the stage with artists such as Gary Allan, Joe Nichols, Justin Moore, Tracey Lawrence, Colt Ford, Lee Brice, Eric Church and Trent Tomlinson.
The Uniquely Union Festival will be held Sept. 12-13 in downtown Union.
