Quintavious Jamal Delaney, 19, of LaGrange was sentenced Monday in Troup County Superior Court to a 45-year sentence with 20 served in custody without the possibility of parole and the remainder on probation.

Delaney was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm for an incident that occurred on Oct. 13, 2012, where a Hogansville man, Thomas Staley, was shot in the hand and shoulder after several men, including Delaney, robbed him at gunpoint in the area of Ash Street and Park Avenue.

According to Assistant District Attorney Jephson Bendinger, five men were involved in setting up Staley in a marijuana deal gone bad. Two other suspects were arrested following the incident and the remaining two are still being investigated.

Steven Shattuck of LaGrange, who was a juvenile at the time, and Dredarious Scott, 19, of LaGrange are both listed as co-defendants in the case for their alleged involvement. Neither have received a sentence yet.

According to earlier reports, Shattuck allegedly set up Staley in the robbery and then drove him to the hospital after he was shot. He was arrested shortly after, when officials noted inconsistencies in his story.

Delaney was arrested in the 900 block of Elm Street that same day.

Delaney received 20 years for the armed robbery charge, 20 years for the aggravated assault charge and five years for the possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime charge.
