UNION COUNTY — USC Union will hold a series of continuing education events at its Union and Laurens campuses through June.


In a statement released Thursday, USC Union announced that it will offer six continuing education events including two dealing with basic computer programs; a course on social networking; a course on the basics of organic gardening; and two activity fun camps for children.


Persons interested in participating in any of these events should contact Kaitlyn Wade at 427-3681, Ext. 7742 or by email at wadekj@mailbox.sc.edu. All persons interested in taking any of these courses must sign up in advance.


The events include:


• Introduction to Microsoft Office — Persons who enroll in this class will learn the basics of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


The course will start with the basics of how to use a computer including logging on. Each night will focus on a different program. The first night will focus on Word, the second on Excel, and the third on PowerPoint.


The classes will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13; Wednesday, May 14; and Thursday, May 15 in the Main Building at USC Union.


The cost of the class is $30 per participant.


• Introduction to Microsoft Office — Persons who enroll in this class will learn the basics of Word, Excell, and PowerPoint.


The classes will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20; Wednesday, May 21; and Thursday, May 22 in the Computer Lab at USC Union at Laurens, 507 North Harper Street, Suite L, Laurens.


The course will start with the basics of how to use a computer including logging on. Each night will focus on a different program. The first night will focus on Word, the second on Excel, and the third on PowerPoint.


The cost of the class is $30 per participant.


• Activity Fun Camp — Each day at the fun camp will be fill with a new set of fun and learning activities including Fun with Science Day, Fun with Rockets Day, Fun with Sports Day, Fun with Theater Day, and Fun with Computers Day.


The fun camp will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, June 9 through Friday, June 13 at the USC Union Founder’s House, 122 North Church St., Union.


The cost of the camp is $65 per child and includes lunch, snacks, drinks, and all activities.

• Organic Gardening Mini-Course — Person who enroll in this course will:


— Learn the basics of organic gardening!


— Proper lighting, timing, temperature, watering, and soil health!


— Discuss the differences in heirloom and hybrid plants!


The course will teach participants the basics of organic gardening including when to plant and where to get the proper supplies.


The course, which costs $25 per participant, will be held Monday, April 21 and Wednesday, April 23 from 6-7:30 p.m. in Room 303 of the USC Union Main Building.


• Social Networking — Persons who enroll in this course will learn to create a Facebook and Pinterest account; find “friends” on Facebook; upload pictures and posts; and make interest boards.


The course will be held in the USC Union at Laurens Computer Lab, 507 North Harper St., Suite L, Laurens on Tuesday, June 24 and Thursday, June 26 from 6-7:30 p.m.


The cost of the course is $20 per participant.


• Activity Fun Camp — Each day at the fun camp will be fill with a new set of fun and learning activities including Fun with Science Day, Fun with Rockets Day, Fun with Sports Day, Fun with Theater Day, and Fun with Computers Day.


The fun camp will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18 at the USC Union Founder’s House, 122 North Church St., Union.


The cost of the camp is $65 per child and includes lunch, snacks, drinks, and all activities.
