Officials have not yet released the names of the three victims of the home invasion that occurred Saturday morning.
Troup County Sheriff Public Information Officer, Stuart Smith said that one victim was life-flighted to Atlanta Medical Center and is in intensive care. Another victim was life-flighted to Columbus Medical Centerwhere he is still receiving treatment and the third victim was transported to Columbus Medical but has since been treated and released.
The three victims were shot in the chest and/or abdomen but Smith did not specify the injuries.
He said that investigators know that the suspect, Victor Weatherspoon, 26, of LaGrange, knew at least one person in the home but it has not yet been determined if he was targeting the three victims.
After Weatherspoon fled on foot, several hours later at approximately 10:30 a.m., a woman from the residence called 911 and reported that Weatherspoon was back and standing in the front yard.
Officials released a reverse 911 call to the residents on the neighboring streets telling them to lock their doors and stay inside.
Weatherspoon was eventually found two streets away on Lethea Drive hiding behind a house. He was arrested without a fight, officials said.
According to a Troup County Sheriff's report, Weatherspoon allegedly forced his way into a house in the first block of Clearwater Drive at about 4:30 a.m. and shot three people. Investigators said there were nine people in the home including numerous children inside the residence, however, none of the children were injured. Weatherspoon then fled the scene.
The three shooting victims were all transferred to area trauma centers for emergency treatment according to the report.
Deputies with the assistance of LaGrange Police and Department of Natural Resources officers secured the area that Weatherspoon was believed to be hiding in, close to the Clearwater Drive scene.
After several hours, with the assistance of the LaGrange Police Department K-9 unit, Weatherspoon was taken into custody and booked into the Troup County Jail.
Weatherspoon is facing charges of nine counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of burglary in the first degree. The identities of the victims have not been released.
