UNION — The effort to have the new Waffle House in Union fully staffed when it opens continues Tuesday morning with a job fair at the USC Union Auditorium.
Located at 519 N. Duncan Bypass, Union, the new Waffle House is currently under construction with the goal of having it ready to begin serving customers later this month.
The new restaurant, which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, will require a staff of 40-60 people including cooks, waiters and waitresses.
In order to have the restaurant fully staffed when it opens, Waffle House Human Resource Specialist Tifanny Geter announced this morning that the company will sponsor a job fair Tuesday from 10 a.m.-noon at the USC Union Auditorium.
This will be the third job fair Waffle House has held in the past three weeks. Geter said that during the first one, 30 people attended and of those 15 were hired. At the second job fair, Geter said 12 attended and five were hired.
Like those hired at the previous job fairs, those hired at Tuesday’s job fair will undergo a two-part training program to prepare them to work at the new restaurant. The first part will involve orientation and will also be held at USC Union. The second part will be hands-on training at Waffle Houses in Spartanburg.
Geter said the date the new Waffle House will be open has not yet been determined, but that plans are to have it open before the end of this month.
