UNION COUNTY — SCWorks will host a job recruitment event at its Gaffney office for an employer looking to hire 50-100 production workers and a job recruitment event at its Union office for a correctional facility looking to hire officers.
SCWorks Business Services Consultant Anthony Vitale announced Friday that the recruitment event at the Gaffney office, 133 Wilmac Road, Gaffney, will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 9 a.m.-noon. Vitale said the employer taking part in the event is looking to hire 50-100 production workers including warehouse personnel, production staff, unpackers, and machine operators. He said those interested in being hired for the positions must meet the following criteria:
• Able to work 8-, 10-, 12-hour shifts.
• Have a high school diploma/GED.
• Able to sit/stand for long periods in a hot/cold environment.
Vitale added that drug tests and background checks will be conducted.
All applicants must also be registered online in the SCWorks Online Database (SCWOS).
Vitale said the recruitment event at the Union office, 103 W. Main St., Union, will be held Friday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on behalf of the Tyger River Correctional Facility. He said the facility is looking to hire correctional officers who will be paid salaries of $24,000 and up. Correctional officers employed by the facility receive a number of benefits including medical, life insurance, retirement, and vacation.
Officers at the facility work 12-hour shifts with no rotation. They only work 14 days a month and have weekends off each month.
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and have a high school diploma or GED. No experience is required for the positions; training will be provided by the correctional facility. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license.
The application process will also involve a background check, drug testing/screening, reference checks, and a motor vehicle check. In addition, applicants must bring a resume to the recruitment event.
