UNION — Approximately 15 people who attended a job fair Tuesday sponsored by Waffle House will have jobs at the company’s new restaurant.
Located at 519 Duncan Bypass, Union, the new Waffle House is currently under construction with the goal of having it ready to begin serving customers in February.
Even as the restaurant itself is being built, efforts are under way to have its staff of cooks, waiters, and waitresses hired, trained, and in place to begin cooking and serving the items on its menu. Those efforts included a two-hour job fair sponsored by Waffle House Tuesday morning in the USC Union Auditorium.
Human Resource Specialist Tifanny Geter said that approximately 30 people were interviewed by Waffle House staff during the job fair. Of those, Geter said approximately 15 have been hired and will begin training today.
The first part of the training process is the orientation phase which will also be held at USC Union. The new employees will next undergo hands-on training at the Spartanburg Waffle Houses.
Geter said Waffle House will sponsor another job fair for the restaurant on Tuesday, Jan. 28. She said this job fair will also be held from 10 a.m.-noon in the USC Union Auditorium as was this past Tuesday’s.
When it opens, the restaurant, which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, will employ 40-60 people.
